El Dorado County Line Multi-Modal Transit Center Study Community Open House – Summary

AIM Consulting has released a summary of the results from public comments generated at the May 17, 2018 Community open house for the El Dorado County Line Multi-Modal Transit Center Study,  sponsored by the El Dorado County Transportation Commission and El Dorado Transit. This study is envisioned to find a replacement for the existing El Dorado Transit Park and Ride facility at White Rock Rd and Post St in Town Center (behind the Big O Tires store).

The current facility is maxed out (167 parking spaces). The concept is to provide a more capable facility, to handle more parking spaces and to provide additional services to draw more commute riders into El Dorado Transit Commuter buses into Sacramento and Folsom, and to get more cars off of HWY50. The focus is for  transportation between El Dorado Hills & Sacramento County. Options are being explored to make the facility more ‘walkable’ and ‘bikeable’ as well as amenities like electric charging stations for hybrid and full electric vehicles, access for school buses from school districts, bike lockers, a rideshare drop off lane (Uber/Lyft) and other potential concepts like shops and a cafe. Potential for parking El Dorado Transit vehicles on site is also desired.

Potential sites for the new facility have been located in and around White Rock Rd and Latrobe Rd – the facility needs to be near HWY50 to minimize the time spent getting on and off the highway.

From the summary:

Next Steps
Over the summer, the project team will develop a plan for the new El Dorado Hills transit center. In the fall, the project team will host a second public workshop to explore proposed transit center options. The project team will present a recommended plan to the public and the EDCTC Board at the end of the year.

DR08-0003-R Saratoga Retail Drive-Thru Modified Project

The project applicants for DR08-0003-R are exploring a revised configuration of their project that was denied by the El Dorado County Planning Commission in February 2018.

The previous project was seeking a design review: adding a third building, but reducing overall square footage of the commercial space. Two buildings were proposed to be fast food drive-thru restaurants, and a third building that would be a non-food retail space.

The revised proposal is to eliminate one of the fast food buildings, and returning to the previously approved two building configuration, again with reduced square footage. One building is proposed to be a fast food drive-thru, the second building will be a non-food retail space. By removing the third building the applicant suggests that they would be able to accommodate RV parking.

The applicant is conducting a public outreach meeting with El Dorado Hills residents on June 26, 2018, at 6:00PM at the Holiday Inn Express in El Dorado Hills Town Center.

New District One And El Dorado Hills Community Council Website Unveiled

At the Monday April 9, 2018 El Dorado Hills Community Council Meeting, El Dorado County District 1 Supervisor John Hidahl announced to attendees the the official live site for El Dorado County District 1, and the El Dorado Hills Community Council. Working with County staff, the webpage has been developed for District 1, realizing Supervisor Hidahl’s long sought web presence for all matters relating to the El Dorado Hills and the El Dorado Hills Community Council.

District One Assistant Cindy Munt will be overseeing the website management, and site content, so that the site is maintained with matters, issues, and resources focused on District One and El Dorado Hills. The site features a contact page so community members may submit questions and concerns directly to Supervisor Hidahl’s office, as well as contact information for each member of the El Dorado Hills Community Council Committees and Committee Leaders. The page also features a “Local Communications” section with links to local El Dorado Hills agencies, events, and the most up to the minute details about local news in El Dorado Hills.

April 11, 2018 El Dorado Hills APAC Meeting Canceled

The El Dorado Hills Area Planning Advisory Committee Executive Board has announced the cancellation of the April 11, 2018 Public Meeting.

In reviewing ongoing and proposed projects currently before APAC, we determined that there just wasn’t enough new information that would warrant a full public meeting. Projects reviewed in November 2017, January, February, and March 2018 are still at the same status points.

We anticipate new information for several projects will be available for our May 9th, 2018 meeting date. Several items will have been reviewed at two scheduled El Dorado County Planning Commission meetings in April, along with information updates from projects currently in process. If any new project information or development occurs APAC will share it here on our website, in our social media outlets, and via our email list.

We hope you enjoy the delightful spring in April here in our wonderful El Dorado Hills – we look forward to seeing everyone at our May 9, 2018 meeting.

El Dorado County Unveils New Interactive Road Work Website

El Dorado County has unveiled a new interactive website that details road work projects.

El Dorado County today launched a new website dedicated specifically to road work projects that have been completed, are currently being done, or are slated to begin this calendar year. Of the 100 projects listed, 58 are maintenance projects, 28 are storm damage projects, and 14 are capital improvement projects. These projects collectively account for nearly $100 million in cost to complete.

“One of the issues of concern to most County residents is the condition of our 1,080 miles of roads. This new website allows residents to easily see where progress has been made, what’s coming up in terms of road repair and what’s currently under construction,” said Department of Transportation Director, Rafael Martinez. “It also provides users with funding information and a timetable for estimated completion of most projects. It will be a constantly evolving site as our employees work to make the roads safe in our County.”

The site contains an interactive overview map of the county with each project marked with different icons indicating whether the project is related to storm damage repair, maintenance or capital improvement and where it is along the continuum of construction.

When a user clicks on an icon, the page moves to screen that provides the project description, estimated cost, estimated construction date (or completion) and the funding source. Many of the projects also include images of construction. Additionally, when a user selects a project, a second map appears on the right side of the screen that displays a zoomed-in location of the larger map highlighting the precise location of the project. Finally, users can also search for projects by name.

Because of the complexity of the mapping features, the functionality of the site works best on Chrome rather than Internet Explorer.

“This website is another tool the County is using to be transparent, keep residents informed and even provide additional information that they may find useful.
